Bonny Doon + De Kooi

Bonny Doon’s members are currently spread right across America, but they still manage to make fantastic, sunny music. The laidback indiefolk of the band spirals as an accessible and cheerful version of Sparklehorse. Or as the renowned Pitchfork said: “Detroit’s Bonny Doon recline deep in the kind of alternative folk music that gives off its own warmth, wise enough to sit back with some guitars and watch the world crumble.”
The band toured extensively with their 2018 sleeper cult-classic Longwave, alongside the likes of Band of Horses, Snail Mail and Waxahatchee. Now, on June 16th, they are releasing their third album Let Their Be Music, of which several rambling singles already have been released.
Inspired by jangle pop and classic country music, singer and guitarist Joris Zuiddam writes songs about drunk evenings and lonely contemplations. Together with drummer Olivier Schiphorst and guitarist/button wizard Domenico Mangione, he entered the studio to catch the ideas. Supplemented by Bart van der Elst on keyboards and Willem Oostendorp on guitar and reinforced by the swinging bass of Melissa-Sue Sastrowiardjo, they make rattling rock music infused in country influences.
