Pynch has a talent for writing quirky, ironic, and sharp lyrics about life that are applicable to just about anyone. Their songs have a certain light and danceable feeling that one does not often hear. Although the thematics of the songs are often about the dark sides of life, the accompanying music captures the beauty of it in an almost perfect momentarily snapshot.
This is also the case on the upcoming album Howling at a Concrete Moon, for which they enlisted Stereolab’s Andy Ramsay as a co-producer. Pynch’s music has a certain feeling of being young and adrift. A feeling of getting lost deliberately to see where the boat will take you. On this night it will guide them to the harbor of Rotterdam. To the red boat which will rock happily under the feet of its dancing visitors.
