Piazzolla’s Pubquiz

The year 2021: a year in which we can slowly start listening to live music again and slowly get back together for a drink. Fortunately, because there is something to celebrate; namely the 100th birthday of the world famous composer Astor Piazzolla, the king of tango. Originally this dance belonged to the people of Argentina, but it was lifted by Piazzolla to concert halls worldwide through masterful compositions. You are undoubtedly familiar with the music of Piazzolla, can you still remember ‘the tear’ of Maxima? Right: Adios Nonino by Astor Piazzolla. This late summer, the Arboris Duo joins forces with double bassist William McClain Cravy and in this unique combination of instruments they set out in the Randstad to bring Piazzolla’s music back from the concert hall to the people. And that doesn’t just happen with normal ‘classical’ concerts, not for the public, but together with the public. In a series of interactive concerts we take the listener into the world of tango, milonga, jazz and classical music. Every concert is also a pub quiz with all kinds of questions about Piazzolla and everything that has to do with him and his music. Both the newcomer and the seasoned concert goers are presented with an original musical program and at the same time are invited to learn about the background of a composition, to listen to a familiar tune in a different way and to discover something new. They will do this at non-everyday concert venues, such as the terraces of cafes, restaurants and beer breweries.

Sunday evening, November 14 at 8 p.m., it’s Piazzolla Time at Vessel11 in Rotterdam!
