Aural Dance Suspense
AURAL DANCE SUSPENSE ️
Join us on the 12th of June at Rotterdam’s inner harbor area aboard Vessel 11 for a Thursday night full of live performances across different forms of experimental music and performance art.
Including:
AZ OOR, who will present The Shipyard, featuring scenography, glitched-out noise, and voice channeling the haunted acoustics of colonial modernity, the marine abduction of life and memory, and their reclamation;
Percussionist Mangruv with producer The Social Lover, disclosing their rhythmic and icily entangled improvisations straight from the studio onto the floor, playing consciously with tonality and tension;
Ratri with a wayang performance titled ‘The Banish Lands’ that intricately threads migrational histories through movement and shadow puppetry, setting a surreal Bahasa tale where a politician becomes possessed;
And ending with Ghaliz & Manirastar, who play a highly concoctive mix of Indonesian diaspora electronica, hand percussion, and vocal techniques that include Dhrupad and throat singing.
Sounds start from 20:30 onward, until midnight.
Powered by Derozan’s Global Dance Suspense and Luke Cohlen’s aural conduct, fusing organising forces for the first time.
