The quarter-life crisis is nothing new for everybody in their twenties. You’re about to become an adult but you still have the feeling to make more out of your life. The ripping powerpop of Weakened Friends from Portland makes navigating through that phase just a bit easier.
The band of songwriter Sonia Sturino comes in sheer resilience, effectiveness and sharp guitar hooks. Like the title of their debut album, Common Blah might suggest, Weakened Friends doesn’t deal with perfectionism; little mistake here and there combined with false notes with screeching amps are the elements that show the raw essence, energy and beauty of their music.
A band you don’t wanna miss if you’re into bands like Sleater-Kinney, The Beths en Dinosaur Jr.
