Chicago has always been a beautiful breeding ground for the better indie: from the great Wilco to enthusiastic newcomers such as DEHD. Ratboys is somewhere in between that spectrum: the frayed alt-country has been a fixture on the local scene for ten years, but now the rest of the world is also starting to fall for this collective.
Ratboys’ music exudes warmth and often a delicate sense of humor: the fine middle ground between indie pop, emo, and folk. Purely beautiful songs, with a nod to pop culture here and there. Lovers of Julien Baker, Big Thief and Bright Eyes know their way around.
