While working on their sophmore album Auto-Pain, Chicago-born band Deeper guitarist Mike Clawson left the band. Later, when the album was done and the three remaining members – singer and guitarist Nic Gohl, bassist Drew McBride, and drummer Shiraz Batti- were out on tour, they received news of their former guitarist’s tragic passing, which led to an entirely new reflection on the post-punk group’s music, “Auto-Pain represents the constant wave of depression felt by many in everyday life,” states their bandcamp page. Instead of drawing back from these struggles, Deeper establish a connection through their music in more than one way. A portion of the proceeds from their album gets donated to an organization working on breaking the silence surrounding mental health.
