V11 x Rotown presents: Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage

Singer-songwriter, comic book artist, and tireless cult hero Jeffrey Lewis is coming V11, and that’s great news for fans of idiosyncratic, storytelling anti-folk. Since the late ’90s, Lewis has been a staple of New York’s alternative music scene. Alongside kindred spirits like The Moldy Peaches, he gave the anti-folk movement a refreshing, humorous, and raw boost around the turn of the millennium. While many of his peers have faded from view, Lewis has never slowed down.

More than twenty years later, he has built an impressive discography filled with albums, tapes, and tour CD-Rs—each packed with razor-sharp lyrics, scratchy guitar riffs, and his unique worldview. Live, Jeffrey Lewis remains an experience like no other: together with his band The Voltage, he delivers a colorful mix of lo-fi urban folk, garage punk, and indie pop, often accompanied by his self-drawn, politically charged visuals and comics.
