V11 x BIRD presents: Nyron Higor

On March 12th, BIRD and V11 bring a very special artist to Rotterdam: Nyron Higor.
One of the most exciting new voices from Brazil’s northeast, someone you simply must experience live.

Nyron, born in sunny Maceió, makes music that is simultaneously intimate, expansive, warm, and incredibly soothing. As a composer and multi-instrumentalist, he is part of a new generation of Brazilian artists who effortlessly blend tradition and modern production. Think of contemporaries like Bruno Berle and Batata Boy, the same lighthearted depth, the same love of space, melody, and feeling.

His debut album Fio de Lâmina (2022) immediately put him on the map with big names like Gilles Peterson, Mr. Scruff, and John Gomez. His new, self-titled album (January 2025, Far Out Recordings) goes even further: personal, lyrical, beautifully layered, and always driven by his distinctive bass playing. The international press is calling him “a new Brazilian star,” and radio stations like BBC Radio 1, NTS, KEXP, and NPR are playing him extensively, but his music is perhaps most impactful live.
