V11 x Rotown presents: shoom + Ruda Krua

The five-piece instrumental band shoom is the best-sounding fever dream you’ll ever experience. Shoom is Ukrainian for “noise”—and noise just happens to be their sweet spot. Think: big band jazz colliding with windmill-post-punk. Think: Black Country, New Road without the vocals, but with a full-blown psychotic episode. In a schizophrenic whirlwind of complex rhythms, blazing guitars, and piercing sax solos, shoom blends influences from every corner of the musical spectrum—from Black Midi to John Coltrane, from MF DOOM to Talking Heads.

shoom came into being in early 2022, making their debut in the Dutch alternative scene with an intimate living room show. Things moved fast from there: they opened for cult heroes like Battles and Iceage, performed at Eurosonic Noorderslag three times, and toured extensively across the Netherlands with Popronde. This April, they’ll cross the Channel for the first time for their debut UK tour.

Ruda Krua is the kind of cross-cultural band that completely pushes the boundaries of what a band can be. With bass, clarinet, drums, and saxophone, enhanced by a dynamic array of effect pedals, they come together to create an irresistible, stormy sound that effortlessly navigates through the realms of punk, afrobeat, spiritual jazz, electronic dance music, and psychedelic rock.
