Herr Hamsterfleisch is the fiercely feminist sister of the music and performance collective Club Gewalt. Inspired by Nina Hagen, they create political “post-progpunk” songs with a touch of synthpunk under the motto “Weiblich, Laut und Gross” (Feminine, Loud, and Large). Sung entirely in Hamster-Deutsch and accompanied by a cacophony of sound, their music is a bold and unequivocal statement against systemic gender inequalities.
Led by frontwoman Loulou Hameleers, this Dutch-German punk band tackles themes such as blood, taking up space, witch burnings, and other patriarchal injustices. This fight against inequality is shouted in-your-face on stage and is evident in their dynamic and weird EP released in 2021, titled “Herr Hamsterfleisch Nur Lappen Fleish.” Let yourself be carried away by the performance and join the rebellion!
