The Buttertones hail from Hollywood, California, which already means one thing; this band is strongly influenced by the realm of movies, fame, romance and hedonism. The Buttertones sound embodies both the lustre and the decay on equal wavelengths: sleazy Stooges punk and acidic surf/rockabilly clash with sultry sixties doo-wop, tender saxophones and Ennio Morricone-like grandeur.

The group was founded by former Cherry Glazerr-bassist Sean Redman, singer/guitarist Richard Araiza, guitarist Dakota Boettcher and drummer Modesto ‘Cobi’ Cobiån. Later, saxophonist London Guzmån joined in. Last year, The Buttertones released Gravedigging, their most varied work to date: every song strikes the listener like a new scene from a not yet released film noir. Flamboyant and luscious, but with a dangerous and dreary edge.
