What the Job Involves
You will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day operations on board Vessel 11 during your shift, including managing the restaurant and bar, coordinating with private events, and overseeing concerts. You will also take on broader responsibilities relating to human resources and staff scheduling.
Floor Manager
• Leading, motivating, and managing a team to deliver excellent customer service.
• Acting as the primary point of contact for guests, ensuring their experience is seamless and enjoyable.
• Identifying and resolving any operational issues during shifts in a calm and efficient manner.
• Overseeing venue setup and closing procedures to maintain operational efficiency.
• Managing staff to ensure that service runs smoothly within budgeted costs.
• Handling cash register duties, including opening and closing the till, ensuring accurate cash flow, and processing payments during shifts.
• Coordinating with kitchen, administration, and management teams to ensure a collaborative approach to service delivery.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and customer satisfaction at all times.
• Actively contributing suggestions and improvements for the overall operation and atmosphere of the boat.
HR & Staff Scheduling Responsibilities
• Creating and managing the weekly and monthly schedule for front-of-house staff.
• Planning front of house staffing needs including building up the team for peak season
• Maintaining and updating employee contracts, records and files accurately.
• Supporting onboarding and offboarding processes for new and departing employees.
• Scheduling and conducting job review meetings.
• Managing holiday entitlement, sick leave records, and staff availability.
• Supporting payroll preparation with accurate attendance and scheduling data.
• Assisting in the advertising of job openings and updating job platforms.
• Addressing employee inquiries and supporting staff well-being and engagement.
Skills We’re Looking For
• Strong communication skills in both Dutch and English.
• Proven leadership experience in the hospitality industry.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to stay calm and solve problems efficiently under pressure.
• A proactive and independent work style.
• Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail.
• Experience with scheduling tools or HR systems is a plus.
• Nice to have: BHV (bedrijfshulpverlening) & SVH (Stichting Vakbekwaamheid Horeca) certifications.
What We Offer
• 28 – 38 hours per week.
• Salary based on Level 5 or 6 of the Koninklijke Horeca Nederland job scale (depending on your experience).
• A vibrant, supportive team environment on one of the most unique venues in Rotterdam.
